Police are appealing for help to track down four men who allegedly abducted and raped a girl in inner-Sydney this week.
The 14-year-old told police she had been at the shops and was walking along Norton Street in Leichhardt about 5pm on Tuesday when a black four-wheel-drive containing four men pulled up alongside her.
She was forced into the four-wheel-drive and driven to Perry Lane in Lilyfield, where it's alleged two men held her down and one raped her.
The girl told police the men then let her go and she ran home. She was taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for examination.
Detective Inspector Mike Edgtton said this afternoon the girl did not give a description of her attackers.
"The assault has occurred at dusk and we believe that there would be a number of people who, if not have witnessed the actual incident, may have witnessed the vehicle or the four young males," he said.
The abduction occurred at the northern end of Norton Street near Lilyfield Road, he said.
He urged anyone who might have seen the girl or four-wheel-drive in the area to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
CCTV footage is being examined but the vehicle has yet to be identified.
Police urged parents not to let their children walk alone, especially late in the afternoon or evening.
"If a parent is aware of a young person who has been approached by a stranger they should report the matter to police immediately," said Joint Investigation Response Squad Commander Paul Devaney.
Police also asked anyone with information about a black 4WD with four men in the Leichhardt area to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
