前些时候，收音机说日本要放弃whaling。其中一个原因，日本地震及海啸之后，需要大量的基金重建。要猎鲸，也需要大量的金钱。因为其他更重要的项目需要用钱，支持猎鲸的钱就少了。
震后，澳大利亚给予了大量的经济援助. 而澳洲又极力反对他们的大规模的猎鲸活动，用捐助的钱去支持捐助人反对的活动，面子上也不好过，所以不猎鲸了。。。
