CSIRO’s Marsfield laboratory hosted the fourth most powerful man in China on Sunday 10 April.

His Excellency Mr Jia Qinglin, Chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, was met by CSIRO Deputy Chief Executive Mr Craig Roy, ICT Centre Director Dr Ian Oppermann and CSIRO SKA Director Dr Brian Boyle, along with Broadband for Australia Theme Leader Dr Jay Guo, who spoke on behalf of the Organisation.

The visit to Marsfield came about primarily because of one of these collaborations: Dr Guo’s Australia-China Research Centre for Wireless Communications. Another is the 54th Research Institute of China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC54) building the 36 ASKAP antennas which are steadily being assembled in outback Western Australia.
