Jaguar x-type 2003 160k miles, was sitting on street for quite some time despite my effort to fix the misfire by replacing parts that I believe causing intake leak, and faulty coil. The car showed faulty engine system on dash, and was in limp mode. Code scan found throttle body circuit error; Replaced the wire connectors to throttle body, replaced while TB (used from eBay). Car ran normal at one point after I put the whole throttle body but back to limp mode after high speed testing like 90 mph. Disconnect battery and touched both terminal seems deleting all computer memory, car ran a bit but went back to limp mode after a few miles of testing. Until I ran into some post about throttle body re position, close and open. http://www.b15u.com/threads/99-Pedal-Relearn-Throttle-Body-Relearn-and-Idle-Relearn#/topics/99?page=1. I followed the steps and viola! car ran normal. I did a test again this morning, after a u-turn, the car went to limp mode. I removed battery and touched both terminals for 10 seconds. I did the TB position learning again and exactly the sequence. The car ran fine from a local drive of 10 miles, and then 10 miles w freeway driving. All seems fine now. I did a few more drive around and car runs fine. Hope this is it w the limp mode. I wish someone somewhere like a manual would inform me that whenever throttle body is electronically disconnect, the car needs to learn how to close, open, varying speed the throttle body. Going to add back my insurance and start to roar again next week. Thanks for reading.
