Incompatibility of PC4200 and PC5300 Notebook Memory pjiang2007-10-28 03:19:11

I though that PC5300 should be compatible with PC4200 anyway, while it turned out a big surprising "no".

Toshiba Laptop with 512M PC4200 (Samsung) - OEM
Added Kingston 1G PC4200 - no problem, 1.5G for half 1 yr

Buying KByte 1G PC5300 today, I thought to use both 1G PC4200 Kingston and 1G PC5300 KByte, but it is only recognized as 1G.

Following are what I experienced

1G PC5300 -> 1G
1G PC4200 + 1G PC5300 -> 1G
512M PC4200 + 1G PC5300 -> 1G

你的笔记本用户手册有没有讲最多支持多大内存?

去bios手动配置内存timings，应该能用

896MB是典型32位系统限制

既然是新买的内存条，可以直接询问K-Byte的技术支持部门。

许多品牌机的BIOS极为简单，几乎没有什么可让用户调的。

你到东芝网站看看笔记本有没有新的BIOS，
