Since my intial post, there are lots of people interested which is really encouraging to me. Now, I am talking about it in more details.
What concerns you most in starting your business ?
No doubt. It is risk and uncertainty. A short cut is a way to minimize risk and uncertainty.
What is the most important factor in a successful eBay business ?
It is products. Products with good profit margins and market demands.
Identifying a good Hong Kong seller helps you to achieve the above two goals.
It is well known that cloning is the easiest way to duplicate a success.
This good Hong Kong seller has done the free work in market research and has boren all related risks. All you need is to just copy. When you copy, you know what the market demand is for this product and have an estimate of the profit margin.
When comes to competition, the advantages you enjoy over the Hong Kong sellers are tremendous and overwhelming. I just say one thing here. When customers shop online, what do they look for ? price and safety. In general, US customers are willing to pay 10-15% more for the same products from an US seller versus an overseas seller.
eBay business is very demanding and probably involves lots more work than you originally thought.
TRUE STORY: A Hong Kong seller has 12,000+ feedback and 1000+feedback/month. I copied his product and started with 0 feedback.
Six months later, he stopped selling that product line on eBay. Three years later, his feedback was 16000, and ours was 37000+
