Pls Help Help: Must parent apply Tax Id? FL172006-01-21 22:26:30

It's tax time, we want to use e-file software to do tax. For my parent(already stay in the US more than 6 months), must apply Tax Id or not? If yes, how? And if we use the e-file, what documents we need to turn in?
