I am now preparing for green card application through Outstanding Researcher category. Now I learned that I could file I-140 and I-485 at the same time. My status is H1-B and my wife's status is F-1. I read lots of posts in this board regarding F-1 filing I-485, it seems there is no definite answer. The lawyer suggested I file I-485 first at this time. I want to know if later on I can add my wife in? If I can, what is the deadline to do that (for example, before my I-140 gets approved or before my I-485 gets approved)? I appreciate any kind help.

personal opinion: there is no perfect choice.

I think you should file together, It wil be a better choice.

You can add your wife later. No deadline for her to file I-485..
