我现在工作的公司因为考虑工作的延续性问题，交接问题，希望我在opt结束后（我将转h4)能够volunteer 一段时间，可是我们学校国际学生办公室，给了我这样的关于volunteer work的定义和解释，并且too dangerous，not worthwhile if you want to apply Green card.以你的经验和判断，是这样吗？

Volunteer work
1. Volunteering in community service or nursary is OK, but better on a now-and-then basis, not continuous.
2. For the volunteer work, you can not be paid, neither can you accept any compensation, like free computer.
3. That work should not be the one that used to be done by paid employee which will make you hard to claim you received nothing.
4. You should almost never try to volunteer in a private company, coz it is hard to defend yourself under strict policy of immigrant law which are usually very strict to foreigners.
5. If you volunteer in a private company and actually don't get any compenstation except experience gained, it is hard to define experience, coz it could be valuable for your job search later, and furthermore, you could possibly take away work opportunity from Americans.
