The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) has completed the stage of its Saudi drone factory it announced.
The factory is being built to manufacturer drones for military and civil purposes, scientific research, urban planning and security, revealed KACST's supervisor general of Special Programs Khaled Al-Hussan.
According to Arab News the drones set to be manufactured includes Saqr 1, 2, 3 and 4. The Saqr 1 drone which is made of carbon and glass fibre, will feature a satellite communications system and camera. Plus it will be able to fly within a range of 2,500km for 24 to 48 hours.
The Saqr 2 will be able to fly for eight hours, whereas the Saqr 4 can fly for five to six hours and both drones are capable of reaching a speed of 120kph at an altitude of 5,000 metres.
