'To make America great again' the slogan used by Mr. Donald Trump made him win the last US election. Because this slogan spoke out what most Americans have wanted to say for years, it sent Trump to the White House in 2016. Now President Trump is thinking the next election in 2020. To win it, he has to use a new campaign slogan - 'To keep America great again'. But, how?
However, the situation is not as good as President Trump has thought so far. He has to turn around the situation by initiating a trade war with China, a rising economic superpower, now the second largest economy behind the States. Mr. President knows that China would surpass the US in a few years if China continues moving along the current track, therefore he has to block this trend of China growth. Otherwise, the USA will lose the number one status of the world!
As a business man, Donald is good at making big money with less efforts than others. Imposing high tariff on the imported goods from China is an easy way that will make more money for the US government on one hand, but also force Americans pay more when buying these goods on the other hand. Can the American comsumers to afford a higher price without reducing their living standard? Let's think about the fact that there are about 48% Americans who do not pay tax to the government!
One question, which President Trump may not have an answer, is why China has been grown so quickly in terms of economic development for decades. Let's take a look at how China is rising as an economic giant - China has invested heavily on mineral resoures and mining industry to supply adequate commodities demanded by the economic growth, including putting tons of money on China Geological Survey to allow it conducting nation-wise mineral survey and potential evaluation. Such a move have attracted mining industry investment on the resource exploration and development, which is a primary driving force of economy.
However, what has done by President Trump by far in the oval office is cutting the US Geological Survey (USGS) budget by 20%! Such action shall eventually slugish and slow the US growth, because the primary driving force of economy is greatly weakened as a result of cutting USGS budget that forces it lose its capacity to assess and promote the US mining industry country-wise.
Mining and agriculture are two legs of economic foundation for a nation. If one leg is crippled, do you think the economy will be good?
If the US economy and American living conditions are not improved in next couple of years, do you think that President Donald Trump will win the 2020 election?
