already, and more practical actions regarding this matter have taken place indicative of various signs that communications between people cross the Taiwan Strait are increasing, although it seems more tensional between the current governments since the DPP took power in Taiwan two years ago led by Ms. Tsai Ing-Wen. Obviously, she opposes any direct dialog with the Mainalnd, but favors more closer relations to the USA and Japan. However, people are smart that are not easier to be fooled in this information age. Any blockage created by the governments could readily be broken by internets, by multimedia, and a simple fact that which government is really serving the people.
The Mainland economy is taking off, reaching a relative high level, so that people in the Mainland are enjoying relatively wealthy life - housing ownership rate of over 90%, the largest auto consumption market, over 130 million people travelling abroad, largest e-commercial market, etc. Just name a few. With less than 20% of the world population, the Mainland has produced over 50% goods in the world used for people's daily life, benefiting all people cross this planet. In this regard, there is no doubt that the Mainland has been the largest economy - a simple math - China GDP per capita (>US$23000) is twice greater than the world averge GPD per capita (~US$/11500) in 2017. This figure is a little bit higher than the Taiwan 2017 GDP per capita - US$22600.
On the other side of the Taiwan Strait, the economy of Taiwan has not been improved since Ms. Tsai took power. People feel worse in their economic status than before. Worse than that is that people seem hopeless in fortune creation under the DPP regime that is more interested in creating hate among Taiwanese rather than growth opportunities for the people in Taiwan.
The talk or action regarding reunion of the Manland China and Taiwan has begun for a while. A peaceful reunion is welcome by all people in the Mainland and Taiwan. Nobody would accept the solution to the reunification by force, although this option remains effective given some want Taiwan to separate from the Mainland or foreign forces are involved in the Taiwan issue.
