白宫 — 在星期四发生的喀布尔恐怖攻击爆炸案当中丧生的13名美军遗体，周日送回美国，拜登总统与第一夫人亲自前往迎接。与此同时，在阿富汗的美军持续进行撤离任务，同时打击发动恐怖攻击的伊斯兰国呼罗珊分子。
拜登总统8月29号星期天上午前往特拉华州的空军基地（Dover Air Force Base），迎接在喀布尔恐怖攻击当中丧生的13名美军遗体。他下午回到华盛顿，直接到联邦紧急事务管理署（FEMA）视察政府对刚刚登陆美国本土路易西安那州的四级飓风爱达（Hurricane Ida）的准备情况。
拜登在致词时先提到了在阿富汗的阵亡将士：“吉尔和我刚从我们家乡州的多佛空军基地回来，我们在那里和13名在阿富汗牺牲英雄的家属会面，他们为国捐躯。在我们为路易斯安纳州祈祷平安的同时，也为他们祈祷。”
一同去迎接遗体的还有国防部长奥斯丁与多位军方高官，包括布林肯国务卿等其他官员则在一旁观礼。
与此同时，美军持续进行打击伊斯兰国的行动。上周四发生恐怖攻击之后，拜登总统说他要追猎伊斯兰国分子，并且要他们付出代价，之后美军28号空袭，杀死一名涉案的伊斯兰国成员。美国中央指挥部发言人尔本（Bill Urban）星期天宣布美军在喀布尔进行了第二次无人机攻击任务，消灭了伊斯兰国呼罗珊ISIS-K对卡尔扎伊机场的立即威胁。
