台湾传媒报道指访问团关注台湾后备军人动员能力,蔡英文致辞时回应表示,明年一月主管后备军人的退辅会将派员常驻华府。蔡英文会见美国议员访问团成员时表示,台美在许多领域都持续深化伙伴关系。就在上周四(18日),台湾首批F-16V作战队成军。F-16V的升级和接装,都是台美国防工业合作的成果。
美国在台协会(AIT)晚间表示,此行程为国会议员出访印太地区的一环,访问团将与台湾资深领袖会面,讨论美台关系、区域安全,以及其他与双方利益相关的重要议题。
访团成员、众议员史罗金(Elissa Slotkin)稍早推文表示,访台消息传出后,其办公室收到来自中国大使馆的讯息,要求她取消旅行。但就像访问其它地点一样,议员团到此是为了解区域,并重申美国对台承诺。
史罗金在推特写道,在与驻韩美军过完感恩节后,她刚抵达台湾,将与这里的领袖讨论一系列经济与国家安全议题;她并提及台湾有晶片大厂,供应链问题肯定会是讨论议题之一。
