Alfredo 的找饨K於打動了 Violetta ，三個月後，他們雙雙墮入愛河，二人脫離了上流社會的生活。Alfredo 從 Violetta 的僕人 Annina 中得知，他們二人已耗盡 Violetta 的積蓄，Violetta 要變賣她最後的家產以維持二人的生計，Alfredo 感到十分苦惱。Alfredo 給 Violetta 留下便條，自己返回巴黎，希望可以賺一點錢回來。Violetta 收到朋友 Flora Bervoix 的邀請卡，但她不以為然，沒打算赴會。 Alfredo 的父親 Giorgio Gérmont 忽然到訪，并指責 Violetta 引誘 Alfredo。Violetta 告訴他，自己為愛花光了自己的積蓄。Giorgio 感到十分慚愧，但仍然要求 Violetta 離開 Alfredo，因為他們的交往，已影響到他女兒的婚事。Violetta 心碎地答應會告訴 Alfredo 她不再愛他，以令他死心。 Violetta 與 Giorgio 在庭園裡等待，以準備安慰傷心的 Alfredo ，她開始寫信告訴 Alfredo 她的決定。Alfredo 在 Violetta 還沒有完成前突然回來了，Violetta 含淚告別，請 Alfredo 繼續愛她，如她深愛他一樣，Alfredo 一臉茫然。 不久，使者給 Alfredo 帶來了 Violetta 的訊息，Alfredo 知道 Violetta 已永遠離開他。Giorgio 前來安慰他，憶述著他快樂的童年。Alfredo 拒絕父親的安慰。他發現 Flora 的邀請卡，以為 Violetta 是想重拾她以往上流的生活，回到男爵的身邊。憤怒的他決定返回巴黎尋找 Violetta。(wiki) |
