Hi there,
I have two purebred exotic shorthair cats. They love Stella&Chewy's Freeze dried food!
However, I've read many negative reviews about the large and sharp bone shards in S&C food. I'm very concerned about that.
I did some research, found that S&C uses 3/16" grind plate, and the bone could appear up to 1/4" in size. I'm aware of that small size raw bones are safe for pets, as S&C explained on Amazon, but ground bones processed by S&C are not small enough to call it safe.
I noticed a recall made by your competitor Primal recently. It seems they have higher standards than S&C in regard of bone size and digestive safety . The following is the recall letter:
"To All Primal Pet Foods Consumers:
Through a recent product quality review process, we have determined that 5 specific Primal Canine and Feline Freeze-Dried Poultry Formulas were produced outside of our grind size
specification of 1/8” which we have determined is the ideal size of ground bone to be fed to dogs and cats. The products in question were ground at 1⁄4” or 1/8” deviation from our specification.
As these products do not meet our precise specifications, we are requesting that these specific products and lot codes be returned to the Primal retailer at which the product was originally purchased for full credit. In the case whereby you are unable to return the product directly to the retailer, please contact our customer service team using the information below to process a
product reimbursement.

I was wondering could you grind the bones to smaller size. I'm currently grinding S&C freeze dried food with a spice grinder before serving. It heats up a little bit because of the working grinder. The heat might reduce the nutrition, but I have to do it to feel safe. I wish S&C could use higher standards, and use smaller size grind plate, so I don't have to have extra process with the spice grinder. Thank you very much!
Sincerely,
******
