Is ATA-7 hard drive compatible with ATA-6 ? walt2008-02-13 17:17:01

I have to type in English. I'm choosing a hard drive for my DELL
Inspiron 6000, which is now using a Seagate ATA-6 (or ATA-100) hard drive.

Can ATA-7 hard drive be used to replace the ATA-6 one?

I'm thinking about this model: Hitachi Travelstar 5K160, but it's said to be a ATA-7 hard drive.
