I found IE7.0 could no longer open pdf files, first i tried to install newer adobe reader 8.0, but the installation aborted;

then i downgrade to IE6 by deleting IE7.0, and try to delete adobe reader.

This is the error message i get when trying to delete adobe reader 7.0.5 using control panel/ add or remove program:

"this patch package could not be opened, verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer patch package"


I went into c:\program file\adobe folder, physically delete all files in adobe reader folder. Nothing works.

I just need be able to read .pdf files. Any fix to my problem?

I removed "real-player" completely - what a sh*tty junk, and am happily using "real-alternative" instead. Maybe i shall do the same with adobe?
