Help:DST Short Status Problem us20022005-08-09 15:20:56

Our Dell laptop can not reboot. After system automatic diagnosis, "DST Short Status" has been found To be "Fail with error code: 1000-0142". After each reboot, the screen shows:

Primary hard disk drive 0 not found
No bootable devices-strike F1 to entry boot, F2 for setup utility.

If f1 pressed, the system shuts down instantly.
If F12 selected, it goes to the first page of utility choice and stops there

I had called Dell and was told it's due to Hard Drive problem.

Coudl someone here give me advice how to fix the problems. Thanks.
