I started to work as an independent contractor since October 2009. Can anyone tell me how to file the income and se tax? By researching IRS website, it seems that I need to file 1040 schedule C and SE before 15th Jan, 2010. Do I need to file other forms for federal tax? How about state tax? I live in NY, but my worksite is in Arkansas. Thanks very very much!!!

you need to ask your client for 1099 if you get paid as contract
