Pfizer began the first clinical trial of its COVID vaccine in children younger than 12 on Thursday. The company says the trial will “further evaluate the safety, tolerability, and immunogenicity of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine” in healthy children ranging in age from 11 years to 6 months old.
The study aims to enroll around 5,000 children, and initial results are expected in the second half of 2021.
