Hi,

These quesitons are for my friend. He just submitted all the required
documents to a lawyer in his company for applying October 2005 H-1B
visa. The lawyer said that he had to wait for about 4 weeks when they
get all other cases from the company done. Also the lawyer said that
they had about 3 to 4 months to file according to the following news:

H-1B Numbers Update

Government Speakers Provide H-1B Numbers Update at AILA's Annual
Conference
Cite as "AILA InfoNet Doc. No. 05062560 (posted Jun. 25, 2005)"

Government Officials speaking at the Salt Lake City AILA Annual
Conference announced that the USCIS has approximately 8,300 H-1B
petitions approved or in the pipeline that will count against the new
exemption cap of 20,000 for FY05, as established by the H-1B Visa
Reform Act of 2004. Note that, on May 24, 2005, the USCIS issued a
press release announcing that they had received more than 6,393 H-1B
petitions in this exempted category by that date.

Further, the USCIS announced that they currently have approximately
27,300 H-1B petitions approved or in the pipeline for FY06.

My friend has no knowledge at all about H-1B visa. Here are his
questions:

1. Is his Oct 05 H-1B visa counted toward FY05 or FY06 cap?

2. How many visas are avaible for the FY starting October 1 2005?

3. What's the implication of this news to his case?

4. Is there anything (like expediate service) he or the lawyer from his
company can do to enable him to get his H-1B visa quicker?

Thanks!
Mike
