Recently, I read many guys' posts here that the recommendaiton letters should be shorter. Now i have 8 letters - 3 from boss, 3 from cooperation boss, 2 from independant expert. The page of boss's letter is 5, 4, 3 repectively. The cooperation letters are 2-4 pages, the independant letters are 2 pages. Is that OK, for my achievements are mainly 5 items - my Ph.D advisor mentioned all of them (5 pages), my current boss mentioned 3 items and my present work (3 pages). the cooperation and independant experts just mentioned the work they are interested (2 - 4 pages). Is the length of recommendation letter really that important? The shorter, the better? BTW, what lenth of the CV of the referees, also shorter is better? Your advice is welcomed.
