Have we ever thought about putting our fates in our own hands?
Please think about it! Just an ordinary visa bulletin news of the US state department stirred such a mess in our Chinese community and aroused widespread desperateness about our future and lives. Is it worthwhile for us to bend our intelligence and dignity over to a palm-sized card?
I agree that the green card really means a lot to us. But we should not allow it to blind our eyes for other beautiful things. Do not let your brain ruined by just a desire for a status that grants you permanent residency in a foreign country.
Take one step back, and think something bigger. Have you ever think about starting a private school back in China? Most of us have education background here in different disciplines and have academic connections to many U.S. institutions. Isn’t this our most useful and unique resources that we can employed to realize our own dreams in our own country! Have you ever feel sorry for those students who live in rural areas in China and can not continue their basic education due to poverty of their family? We can use the money earned from the private school to help poor students in the rural areas.
Maybe you will think I am so naïve. But please think something different, which is the first step to make something different. No matter what happened, you are still ‘you’. So, please just be yourself and most importantly, enjoy being yourself!
