Hi, XDJMs,

I have a question regarding my current working status. I am a J-1 visa holder. Fortunately, I recieved the recommendation letter of J-1 waiver from the US department of state and the receipt notice of the application of waiver of foreign residence from the USCIS before this September. Thus I could submit the concurrent filing of my I-140 and I-485 before October 1. I just heard that once I submitted the application of adjustment of status (i-485) my current J-1 visa will be atomatically forfeited. So I could not lawfully work under the current J-1 status. The J-1 status and I-485 pending cannot exist concurrently. Is my understanding correct? I have not yet submitted the EAD application. On the other hand, even if I submitted the EAD application together with I-485, it takes some time to get it. But before I receive the EAD is it legal for me to work under the current J program specified in Form DS-2019? Any brothers and sisters ever experienced the same situation. I really need your timely response. Thank you very much.
