I am currently an F-1 undergrad student and I registered 12 credit hours at the beginning of this semester, 2 of which started at Oct 18. I got married at Oct 1 and went to the honeymoon, so I missed the first 2 weeks of that class. I didn't know that would cause me automatically drop from that class according to the school rules. Now the international student office told me that they would have to change my record at the SEVIS, which means I will lose my legal status.
My question is
1. When will I lose my legal status? Is it as soon as the school change my SEVIS record?
2. What should I do to adjust my status? do I have any grace period to adjust?
