I-140 filed on 2005-9-29, EB1, approved on 2006-1-12.
This is not a striking case in terms of processing time, but if considering my background, it may be encouraging:
MD,PhD in China, came to US 2 years ago as a posdoc. When filing 140, actually no first-authored SCI paper has been published: 2 were in press, another 2 were under review. And only 5 citations from 2 co-authored SCI paper. But I have over 40 Chinese papers, co-authored 10 Chinese academic books, attended more than 10 Chinese and International meetings, 2 academic awards from Chinese government, some other awards like "excellent graduate student of XX province". I got 8 letters from 7 univ. or institute: 4 from Chinese American professors, but they are all directors of the departments, 1 from Chinese boss, 3 from American professors. My lawyer insisted to file EB1, and she is right.
So, for those Chinese scholars who already have some achievment in China before coming to US, your previous work also matters. You still get chances to get approved even though you don't have many SCI paper.But I do think other document I found also helps:
---Newspaper report of the Chinese instiute I worked in,
---Newspaper report of my Chinese boss,
---Even Chinese papers which are not cited by SCI, many of them can be cited by other international database, like Chemical Abstract, you can find them in some website of Chinese university library. I guess the INS officer don’t know the difference between SCI and Pubmed and CA.
---All international meetings I attended and the paper I presented on the meeting,
---Introduction of my current univ. from US report
Also, my lawyer did a great job. More than half of my personal statement is about my work in China.
