hi everyone,

Please help me on my big problem with this status change from H1B to F1.
i am running into this dillema because i just received my i-20 today. the service
center at my jurisdiction disctrict is right now processing i-539 on Mar 10, 2006.That means I will not be able to get my F-1 status by the end of August,
when the school starts. By that time, my H1B will terminate when the F1 is
approved. I will not be able to register for classes and I will not be able to
continue to work either.

Xiaobaitu has told me that the service center will not accept walk-in service.
So now I have only two options

1) contact the school and ask them to postpone my enrollment to the next
spring semester and issue me a new I-20.

2) go to Mexico or Canada and try to get an F1 stamp on my passport. But will
it be risky in that my application might get denied and not be able to go
back into the U.S with my current H1B and I94?

3) maybe there is some other alternatives that I don't know.....

Please kindly provide me some advices and help me through this. I really don't
want to mess up both my job and my school at the same time.

Also, do i need to apply that I-901 SEVIS thing? I am already in the U.S.

I really really appreciate your help on answering these questions. Thanks much!

Y
