Tencent’s U.S. Office in Redwood City, California, seeks a special candidate with a strategic mindset with native-level Mandarin Chinese writing, speaking and listening comprehension skills to work as product planning and business development managers directly reporting to senior executive management. Candidates must demonstrate strong ability to think independently and should be highly knowledgeable of the Internet and mobile service spaces in both China and the U.S.

Job Deion: Product Planning and Business Development Manager
• Advocate Tencent's entrance into new strategic business areas based on careful research and analysis of new Internet technologies.
• Work with product development teams to take new business concepts from concept stage to open beta and beyond.
• Identify and negotiate licensing of new technologies and services to be deployed in China.
• Work with development team to determine technical feasibility of new strategic service projects.
Regular travel to our China headquarters is required.
Positions will be based at Tencent’s U.S. Office in Redwood City, California.
Candidate should possess the following attributes as a minimum requirement:
• Must have strong knowledge of broadband and mobile networks and Internet and mobile value-added service applications. Should have expert knowledge of the Internet service industry in the U.S. and China.
• A strong market sense for developing and providing new interactive services for consumers in the China market.
• At least 2 years work experience in a major Internet company, mobile service provider, online games developer, or major media company.
• Deep understanding of software development and web technologies.
• Passion to grow: candidates must be excited to work in a start-up environment and meet new opportunities and challenges with enthusiasm.
• Strong communication skills: ability to lead teams, advocate proposals to senior management and organize business initiatives is essential.
• Strong work ethic: ability to work independently and responsibly in a fast growing organization.
• Strong academic background and performance.
• Minimum of a bachelor’s degree required, preferably in the fields of electrical engineering, computer science, or other discipline that would help the candidate work in the Internet technology field. MBA, Masters, or Ph.D. applicants are strongly encouraged.
• Some work experience in business development and contract negotiation preferred.
• Experience drafting quality business proposals, project plans and financial models preferred.
