Summary: VSC OR I140/I485 ND:9/30/05, I140 AD:4/3/06, I485 AD:9/15/06. Card was received on 9/22/06. There was only 1 change on LUD in June which may be due to a call to INS. No LUD before I485 approval. Spouse's case is still pending.
It comes when you don't expect it. we have experienced all kinds of problems and have tried every possible application: LC which is still hanging somewhere in the backlog center for 3 years, PERM which was rejected after 5-month waiting, NIW which was rejected at a time of chaos after 2 years of waiting, and finally OR which seems the one that most fits my case and got approved within 1 year. I cannot be more thankful to my lawyer who kept encouraging me to stick to this.
My advice to those who are preparing for the green card applications is to find a good lawyer if you are not preparing by yourself and find the best category that fits you most. Also don't be afraid of using AP after your I140 is approved and changing jobs after I485 has been filed over 180 days.
