I just got emergency advance parole. I wrote down my experience as a return for what I have got from this forum.

My situation is marriage-based gc. I am now on h-1b. Bring diagnosis report and translation with notory (my firm's secretary did that for me for free), 485 receipt, application letter, H-1B notice of action,check,i-94 copy, diver license copy, passport copy.

This is the 3rd time I went the immigration office for AP. The first time, the lady said I can not leave us without AP. Yesterday, I went to the office with all the supporting documents and told the receptionist that I need to apply for AP expedited. The receptionist immediately sent my documents to particular employee for review. It seems like they have paid special attention to AP application. But the male officer said he can not issue me the travel document and I need to go back to China for H1-B stamp as my h1b is still valid. The lady I talked to the first time was not working on Thur. I feel frustrated and made the second day appointment using infopass when I got back home. Today I did not say at the counter that I need an emergent AP. Instead, I said nothing and then was sent to the general question window. And I found out that the guy I talked to yesterday rotated the role as a receptionist today. He did not deal with cases directly. I am not sure whether he recognized me when he distributed the waiting number. This time I got a chance to talk to the lady I met during my first visit. She asked me whether I told the receptionist about my AP application. I said no. She then went to the receptionist herself and changed my waiting number from A98 to F-1. I guess they use different # indicating different type of cases. Two hours later I got AP. You can imagine my stress during 2 hours’stay. I am sure everyone in this forum has a story to tell. So do not give up too easily when you have a problem.

BTW, I emailed a couple of attorneys when I got back from the immigration office yesterday for advices. Quite a few gave me a response but asked for a charge for advices. As a professional myself, I do not think it inappropriate at all to ask for service fee. But 范毅禹律师 (fan law) and William Chao(Chao Law Firm) are the only two attorneys who gave me free and prompt advices. I do not mean to encourage you to contact them for free services. What I have is my appreciation to their kindness and time when I was in frustration. Thank you very much.

Good luck to you all.
