Can I apply for J1 visa if I work for a for-profit company? 77552006-12-04 04:34:53

I was confused by a visa issue.

I know that I can not apply H-1 now. If I will be hired by a for-profit company, can I apply for J1 visa to work for them before next Oct? Then apply H1 in this coming April, let the H1 begin from next Oct.
