I asked the following question yesterday and thank you and other experts' reply, but the core concern are: 1) will my son be eligible for applying for federal financial aid once he gets the #SSN....2) for getting the #SSN, he needs to apply for EAD first, does he really need to get out US and come back with the parole? Highly appreciate all the reply! We are really anxious!

-----the below question was posted yesterday-------

My son will go to college next year, yet we are I-485 pending for 1.5 years (NIW) and just wating like all of the unfortunate people and parents. We are facing financial problems, I am asking (I cannot find the sure info.) if we are eligible for applying for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), it needs #SSN or green card, I am not sure if we are fine, saw a post before (say I-484 pending 1 year was eligible) but I cannot find the source.

Xiao Bai Tu and other experts who have kids for colleges, could you please give me answer and let me if I also have other options for the finacial aids?

Highly appreciate for any inf. and suggestion! Pray all of us survive the difficulty period.

A pre-college's mom
