I am a PHD candidate and will start looking for a college faculty position in Oct, 2007. Given the fact that the H-1B quota was used up in the first day and faculty position usually starts in September, I am trying to decide if I should graduate in Dec 2007 or in May 2008. I will apply for OPT upon graduation.

Questions:
1. Is college faculty H1B subject to the same H1B quota that is for master degree holders? If not, does faculty H1B have quota at all?
2. Is the faculty H1B quota starting date April 1st?
3. If I get an offer this year but will not start teaching until Sept, 2008, can I apply for faculty H1B in April, 2008 even I will not start working until Sept?
