My I-485 was ted in September 2005 and now is still pending (EB-1, so priority date has always been current). This year (2007) I called USCIS 1-800 number twice and went to Infopass (in NYC) once, still couldn’t find out my FBI Name Check status (everybody said they didn’t have access to the information). During one of the phone conversation with USCIS on April 11, 2007, I was told that a 30-day Service Request was placed on my pending I-485 – the NSC rep explained that my I-485 would have to be processed within 30 days. I received a FP notice (code 2) on May 7, 2007, which was surprising because I had my second FP (code 3) in February 2007.
My first FP was October 2005 (code 1). Anyway I had my third FP May 21, 2007.

Now my questions are:

1) Does the USCIS 30-day Service Request mean that my FBI name check is
cleared? My self-comforting rationale is that, only when my name check is cleared, can USCIS have the final say on how long my case can be processed. Otherwise, FBI name check is the speed-limiting step, right?

2) Does my third FP notice mean that my I-485 is actively processed? I am very
anxious to know whether my Name Check is stuck. Should I write to Senator etc to find out?
Thanks a lot!

I agree with you on both items.
