Share My Infopass Experience: relationship between name check an mjp20052007-06-12 15:10:21

I went to Infopass this morning at 8:15am and asked a lady about our 485 petition status( EB2, RD 09/2005). She typed my case receipt number, and told me that my case are still pending for NC. As far my wife, who is dependent on my approved I-140, she told my wife that her name check is done,but need more time on something like background checking. Then she told us to wait, even though she do not know how long it will be. Then we just came out of CIS.

However, I am still not clear the relationship between name check and background checking. We made our 2nd FP in April, and the TSC has received it.
Does anybody have similar experiences? If my wife's NC is cleared before me, is it possible for her to get the I-485 decision earlier than me( she is dependent on my application)? Should I write to first lady for my NC? what is the relationship between name check and background checking??
