I just got my assistantship award and I-20 Form and am ready to apply for visa status changing from H4 to F1 at Huston Center. But after the Office of International Education (OIE)at university reviewed my application materal, she said I need get a new I-20 form for the form I received is for someone traveling out of the US, my new I-20 should be marked by"initial attendance--change of status request". In order to do this, I need to submit an alternate financial source to the Graduate School and COS(changing of status). I am so confused and depressed at it. I saw the other person(who has already changed status in the US)'s I-20 Form, there is no difference as mine which is marked by "initial attendance of the school"and no other financial support was needed for COS. I already got the full scholarship for the Fall and the amount is enough to cover my expense with the tuition waiver. I doubt it is an excuse to delay my application. Does anybody has the similar experience and can explain it to me. I am really really depressed about this thing. Any suggestions are appreciated.
