ATTORNEY-CLIENT AGREEMENT
This ATTORNEY-CLIENT AGREEMENT (“Agreement”) is entered into by and between _________________________(Client) and Law Offices of Lai & Associates, P.C. (Attorney).
1. SCOPE AND DUTIES: Client retains Attorney to provide legal services in connection with USCIS Form I-140 immigrant petition under the employment based first preference (Eb-1A Alien of Extraordinary Ability). Attorney’s legal services relative to Client’s petition include counseling Client, revising recommendation letters based on information provided by client, preparing and filing the final petition package, answering Request for Evidence (RFE) if one is issued, and contacting USCIS if necessary. This Agreement does not obligate Attorney to provide legal services in connection with any appeals to any administrative boards or judicial courts.
2. GUARANTEE OF PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE: While it is impossible to guarantee a successful result, Attorney shall exercise due diligence in furthering Client’s best interests under the available laws.
3. LEGAL FEES: The total amount of legal fee for I-140 Eb-1A petition is FOUR THOUSAND dollars ($4,000.00). Client agrees to pay an initial retainer fee in the amount of TWO THOUSAND dollars ($2,000.00) at the time of this Agreement. Upon receipt of the retainer fee, this office will immediately commence work on Client’s case. Client further agrees to pay the remaining balance due of TWO THOUSAND dollars ($2,000.00) within a reasonable time upon approval of the I-140 petition.
If Client requests Attorney to revise more than six (6) recommendation letters, Client shall pay $200 more for the revision of each additional letter, due upon such request.
4. WITHDRAWAL: If Client withdraws the petition or terminates Attorney's representation after the petition is filed with the USCIS, Attorney's representation is complete and Client must immediately pay Attorney in full amount of the remaining balance due of legal fees.
5. MODIFICATION: Any modification of the agreement must be in writing and signed by Client and Attorney.
6. PRIOR AGREEMENTS: This Agreement incorporates all prior agreements and understandings between Client and Attorney.
7. FILING FEES AND COSTS: Client shall pay all filing fees as the day incurred. Fees are subject to change by USCIS.
