I filed my 3 year H-1B extension on August and now waiting for approval. MY current H-1b will expire in Feb,2008. My question is regarding to using EAD working on a part-time job in another field. My full time employer is my I-140 sponsor and I don't have any dependant. If I use EAD to work on a part-time job, then I will be on AOS. What is the impact on my H-1B then? Do I lose my H-1b status? Is my extention application still valid? Can I still use H-1B visa stamp to travel abroad? Or I should use AP in this case, or it doesn't matter? If I used EAD on part-time job, do I have to use EAD on my full time job? Can I have both form of work authorization? Do I need to notify my full time job employer if I use my EAD? If I don't want to renew EAD next year, can I use H-1B? Or if there is a gap in EAD, can I use H-1B?

I did read Pjiang's blog regarding EAD and AP, but I still don't really understand the consequence of using EAD. It seems to me the most disadvantage for using EAD is losing status right away when I-485 denied. However, in my case, H-1b extenstion is based on I-485, my H-1b will be void right away when I-485 rejected anyway, isn't it?

I can't find much information discussing people in H-1b extention using EAD. Could you provide more information?

Thanks so much.

when you use part time EAD, your current H1b is nullified.
