I just called TSC. Tried maybe 5 times today and finally reached a very nice and happy immigration officer (not the customer service rep). I mentioned “the memo about name check” right after I got connected. He said “Memo? What memo?” And then laughed and said he was just teasing me: “Oh yeah, it’s all about that memo these days.”
He pulled my case, my name check has been pending since 01/2007. (My PD is in 2001. 485 submitted 12/2006, EB2). He said I do fall in to the category that the memo covered.
He told me that the memo only says the case should be adjudicated, didn’t specify a timeline for the adjudication. So don't expect to see an approvial today or tomorrow. But he also said it takes up to 60 days (I thought he would say one year). Most likely I should hear something within 60 days, but call back after 30 days just to check.
Of course I can’t absolutely count on what this immigration officer had said. But still, at least he is familiar with this memo, and at least USCIS won’t keep telling me “FBI name check, nothing we can do”.
