I applied GC for my father. The I-485 has been filed more than 1 year ago. I lived in New Jersey and the case has been transferred to California last March.
The current status according to the official website is:
Current Status: Case Transferred to Another Office for Processing
I am 100% sure the message has been changed last month. Before, it was "The case is pending at the office it has been transferred to.". However, for this change, we didn't received any explanation in the mail.
My questions are:
- why it has been changed? Does it mean that it has been transferred to
another office other than California?
- Has anyone met similar issue or have the same current status?
Could it be related to the recent INS actions on FBI name check? The only
other item I could think of is that we changed the mailing address online. The new address is still within the same city and same zipcode. I thought that should have no impact at all on the processing.
It has been torturing me for a while. I am now afraid that my changing of
address screwed things up. I went to Infopass before and didn't get any
useful information, except the case is waiting for the name check for more than 1 year. Given a lot of case has been approved lately, I am very anxious as it seems my father's case has been forgotten.
