My journey
EB1a I140 approved 2006-04, 4 weeks after filing it to TSC;
I485 filed in 2006-07;
1)change of address,taking 12th month to get it updated in TSC database (ShXX)
2)getting anxious 12 moth after filing... wrote to Senate office 18th Month, the reply was ambiguous, saying it is under review;Attorney said, it is under additional security review, which I never believe
3) Post here asking about WOM. Hesitated to do it when my attorney offered a charge of $7,500.
4)Wrote to USCIS Ombudsman office in the 24th month; one month later, called by MsXX from the office, saying that the case will be processed within 90 days. I was told they can directly called the TSC
5)One month ago, Called TSC customer service, saying that we are sorry but we cann't do anything... Then half an hour later, I called Ombudsman to follow up. I was told the case was assigned to an IO.
6)Yesterday, the case was approved.
One thing to share with you: do something when you are getting anxious (that means something may have gone wrong with the stupid USCIS system) Writing to Senate office can be helpful. But I believe it is more useful to write to USCIS ombudsman office. Get to know the person that is working on your case. The ombudsman person seems to be more engaged and s/he can contact the IOs directly. They can check your case status and see what those in infopass or customer service (even senior level) cannot see. This is true, at least, in my case.
Although I never took it seriously in my heart,I spent lots of hours and several thousands dollars on it because my wife cared about it a lot.
This journey is so humiliating. We have paid tax and worked overtime and are trying to be lawful all the time. Attorneys are all blood-sucking bugs. It took dozens of hours for me and the infopass/customer service people to check again and again something that can be done in half an hour. The fxxxing doomed USCIS system!
