Two I-140 (NIW and EBA1- extraordinary ability) were filed in September 2005 and got approved within 1 month.
I-485 was filed concurrently with NIW-based I140, as I thought my NIW-based would have much higher chance to get approved than EBA1-based.
All DIY.
Then long waiting time because the name check delay.
Wrote numerous letters to senators (two states, Cardin office in Maryland helped a lot), first lady, and congressmen. Got various ridiculous responses and excuses from USCIS.
In responses in May, August, they said everything was ready and I would get response in 30 days. But nothing happened.
Then I thought they used up all 2008 quota and no quota available for me. I had to wait for 2009 quota. USCIS seemed to do not work much in Oct. and Nov.
I wrote two letters to USCIS to request to re-attach my I-485 to my approved EBA1-based I-140. I do not know if they did that. So no idea which one the I-485 was finally approved, NIW or EBA1 ?
