My J1 visa will expire very soon. I applied for extension 4 month ago. But the immigration office in my university said the immigration system lost my information that recorded my enter the country. They said at the beginning they can do the extension for me by hand just before my visa expiring if they still can not access my data in the system. But now, they said they can not do that any more and must get the permission from Washington. I just want to know whether someone has similar situation? Can I still stay in US after my current visa expire? What can I do?
