I got my H1B last week. When I asked my lawyer about the cost to apply for green card, she gave me the following response.
"... Very soon, a new process will replace this current one for filing a labor certification - and there are
several advantages to waiting for this new process. The main advantage
is that you will have to pay two separate fees to us to file under this
current system and then again under the new system. The negative to
waiting is that we have absolutely no idea when this new system will be
implemented. We also don't know exactly what it will say so we don't
know if you would even qualify under the new system."
I've been working for the current company for half a year. It's a small company, and my salary is not high. ($38K, CS master, NY)
Any suggestions are appreciated.
