My father got the green card last year and went to visit China. He renewed the passport, but unfortunately the birth year in the new passport had a mistake. (Birth year in green card and old passport is 1939, the new passport birth year is 1938).The birth day and month are all correct.
Will my dad have problems when he boards the airplane and come back at US customs? The return ticket is June this year. There is no time to change the new passport.

1. Does the airplane check the details (including the date of birth) of the green card and passport or they just check the the name of these two documents?
2. Does US customs officer check these details?

Thanks for opinion
