My mother plans to go back to China next month and I will take a 10-day vacation in China after the Spring semester is over at the beginning of May, 2011. Can my mother come back with me at the end of May next year or my mother has to come back in April, 2011? According to http://www.immihelp.com/greencard/retain-greencard.html, "You can travel outside United States for less than 6 month in a given year without any problem in general." If my mother comes back with me, then my mother will stay in China for total of 7 months but she will spend first 2 months in 2010 and 5 months in 2011. Within a given year, she did not spend more than 6 months outside the United States. Am I right? But I am not sure. I intend to buy air-ticket for my mother soon. Your quick response and advice would be greatly appreciated.
