My wife was laid off about 2 months ago from a company. Her last paycheck was till the end of last month. Since it seems very difficult to find a job nowadays in IT, she is preparing the materials to change her status from H1 to F2 (I'm a F1 students).

However, she is not able to get a letter from her company stating that she is still working for the company----which seems essential for H1B to change status. (Her boss was really mean---actually fired her without warning, because my wife didn't say good words on her boss's annual review).

We're really afraid that she'll be asked to leave US since she had a gap in between her status. H1B has no grace period, right?

Really appreciated.
