As most of person, When I applied green cards for my parents, I filled the form I-864. Now my parents already got their green cards for a while. I am thinking to buy some medical insurance for them. Both of them are over 65 years old and are Florida residents.
In the instruction of I-864, it mentioned that "the submission of this form may make the sponsored immigrant ineligible for certain Federal, State or local means-tested public benefits", I wonder what the certain benefits they mentioned means? If it includes medicare and medicaid? Can I apply Fl medicaid for my parents? I checked the government web about medicaid and they don't say anything related to I-864. Another question is my parents just need the basic medical insurance, they don't need go to nursing room and don't need person to take care of them. Do you know are there any programs in Fl medicaid can meet their requirements?
