My H1B extension application will be submitted late (but I have EAD to keep my status). I did research on Internet about this issue. It is very likely that I need to go out of USA to reactivate my new H1B even if it is approved. In such a situation,

1) Is the effective date of my new H1B still the next day right after the expiration date of my current H1B or the date on which my new H1B is reactivated? If it is the latter, there will be a big gap. Is that an issue?

2) Can I go to Canada instead of China to reactivate the new H1B?
